Before you set off

What goes first, section by section

Filled buns

Cheese and onion goes first, most days before eleven. Braised beef usually follows it by about one. If you want either in the afternoon, ask us in the morning and we will put one by with your name on it.

Steamed buns

Pork belly is usually gone by half past one on a Saturday. Lamb and cumin is a Saturday only bun and often finished before noon. Plain mantou we can nearly always steam more of if you ask and can wait ten minutes.

Breads

Sourdough rounds are baked once, early, and there are about forty of them. On a Saturday they are gone by eleven. Tin loaves we bake twice, so there is usually one left in the afternoon. Flatbreads go with the lunch rush.

Sweets and drinks

Custard tarts are the first sweet thing to go, usually mid morning. Cookies last much longer. We stop making coffee about twenty minutes before closing so the machine can be stripped and cleaned.

Allergens

What we can and cannot promise

Every item lists what it contains, and that list changes on this page the same day a recipe changes. Fourteen allergens are declared by name rather than hidden behind a symbol.

What we cannot offer is a kitchen free of anything. It is one room. Wheat flour is in the air, and sesame, soya, peanuts, milk and egg are handled on the same benches every day. If your reaction is serious, please talk to us before you buy and we will tell you honestly what we think.

There is more on this, including why we do not bake gluten free, in the questions people ask.

Ordering ahead

For more than about six items, email hello@panbuns.com two days before. We will confirm, put it in a box with your name on it, and you collect before we close. No deposit for a counter order.
